Summary: ‘remote HEAD refers to nonexistent ref’ messagen when trying to check out Git repository Project: Savannah Administration Submitted by: huftis Submitted on: Sun 27 Mar 2022 08:49:59 PM CEST Category: Source code repositories - anonymous access Priority: 5 - Normal Severity: 3 - Normal Status: None Assigned to: None Originator Email: Operating System: GNU/Linux Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any _______________________________________________________ Details: I have added a Git repository for my project (converted form an old Subversion repository): https://git.savannah.nongnu.org/cgit/ordbanken.git/?h=main I have managed to push data to the repository, but this command git clone https://git.savannah.gnu.org/git/ordbanken.git fails/ends with the following message: warning: remote HEAD refers to nonexistent ref, unable to checkout. And although a bunch of data is downloaded, no files are checked out. (I’m left with an empty directory.) I think this is *might* be related to the fact that the default (and only) branch name for the repository is ‘main’, not ‘master’. Could you please fix this, e.g., by updating HEAD on the server to point to the ‘main’ branch? _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <https://savannah.nongnu.org/support/?110623> _______________________________________________ Message sent via Savannah https://savannah.nongnu.org/
