Summary: "verbatim" not verbatim enough Project: Savannah Administration Submitted by: barx Submitted on: Tue 09 Nov 2021 04:09:51 AM CST Category: Savannah trackers - bugs, tasks, etc. Priority: 5 - Normal Severity: 3 - Normal Status: None Assigned to: None Originator Email: Operating System: None Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any _______________________________________________________ Details: In http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?61371#comment4 the submitter posted a patch between begin and end "verbatim" tags. As subsequent comments in the report reveal, the patch failed to apply because the space at the beginnings of some lines was stripped out. But it turns out the space is in fact present. To verify this, hit the "Quote" button at the top of this comment, and examine the text placed in the New Comment box. You'll see that many lines of the patch begin with a space character; compare that to how the patch is rendered in the comment itself, and notice that there the spaces are missing. The bug tracker needs to display "verbatim"-tagged text actually verbatim. Especially, it cannot strip leading spaces, which are often significant in code, patches, etc. -- the exact sorts of things "verbatim" is designed for. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <https://savannah.nongnu.org/support/?110562> _______________________________________________ Message sent via Savannah https://savannah.nongnu.org/
