Summary: remove master and placeholder branch Project: Savannah Administration Submitted by: markjolesen Submitted on: Thu 24 Sep 2020 04:29:32 PM UTC Category: Source code repositories - developer access Priority: 5 - Normal Severity: 1 - Wish Status: None Assigned to: None Originator Email: markjole...@gmail.com Operating System: GNU/Linux Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any _______________________________________________________ Details: I migrated from bzr to git sometime ago. The git changes are a massive refactor and allot of reformatting. I would like to keep the bzr repository intact. The bzr repository contains real history. I would like to remove or delete the git repository and then push or create the repo with one big change. I tried doing this manually but get an error:' $ git push origin :master Enter passphrase for key '/home/markjolesen/.ssh/id_rsa': remote: error: By default, deleting the current branch is denied, because the next remote: error: 'git clone' won't result in any file checked out, causing confusion. remote: error: remote: error: You can set 'receive.denyDeleteCurrent' configuration variable t remote: error: 'warn' or 'ignore' in the remote repository to allow deleting th remote: error: current branch, with or without a warning message. remote: error: remote: error: To squelch this message, you can set it to 'refuse'. remote: error: refusing to delete the current branch: refs/heads/master To git.savannah.nongnu.org:/srv/git/kasoverb.git ! [remote rejected] master (deletion of the current branch prohibited) error: failed to push some refs to 'markjole...@git.savannah.nongnu.org:/srv/git/kasoverb.git' Thank you. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <https://savannah.nongnu.org/support/?110315> _______________________________________________ Message sent via Savannah https://savannah.nongnu.org/
