What do you use for the notifications? Git comes with a script
/usr/share/git/contrib/hooks/post-receive-email
that can be used for that purpose. Depending on how you configure
hooks.showrev, you can include/exclude diffs. The default is just to display
the commit id, author, date and log message, as it would be appropriate for
the auctex-com...@gnu.org mailing list.
