Follow-up Comment #2, sr #106779 (project administration): lists hosted on lists.gnu.org shouldn't use a subscriber-only setup anyway. it creates extra backscatter and thus increases the chance of blacklisting. (and there are other reasons for GNU lists, although that's not relevant for lwip.)
I don't know if there is some rationale about keeping the posting policy off the public pages. That'd be a question for mailman.
