The Mailman integration is not perfect yet. I ackowledge this would be good to merge the changes from the Savannah interface and from Mailman's. Currently you need to use https://savannah.nongnu.org/mail/admin/?change_status=1&group=cvs to edit the descriptions there as well. Or expect people to, as I did myself yesterday for info-cvs, have a look at the Mailman listinfo page.
