Hi,
A user must have a unix account, possibly with a limited shell, to work
with CVS, scp, rsync.
Normally, people are only able to write on files owned by their project.
I do not understand the last question.

i donīt understand, if it necessary to have a shell
account to set up files to download area. Iīm
installed Savannah on a local computer. Must a project
have a shell account to set up files. Can a project
overwrite other files or directories? How do you get
that nobody can read files out of the project-directory
