Yes; people are working on it [*].

Besides what was mentioned in [*], registered Savannah users who
are members of any group can use the 'member' clone to get
a read-only access to any other public group repositories.
The authenticated access must be more stable.  If you wish, we could
arrange it for you meanwhile.
