Summary: Describe system name better in registration page Project: Savannah Administration Submitted by: asdago Submitted on: Sat 10 Apr 2021 02:42:22 PM EDT Should Start On: Sat 10 Apr 2021 12:00:00 AM EDT Should be Finished on: Tue 20 Apr 2021 12:00:00 AM EDT Category: System Priority: 5 - Normal Status: None Privacy: Public Percent Complete: 0% Assigned to: None Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any Effort: 0.00 _______________________________________________________ Details: In my latest project submission <https://savannah.nongnu.org/task/?15939>, I had to try three times for a valid system name. On the project registration page <https://savannah.nongnu.org/register/>, the description for the Short/system name is simply "(used in URLs, mailing lists names, etc.)". This does not describe what is actually allowed for the system name. Please add a description to the system name, such as the following: "alphanumeric, '-', and '_'; max 20 chars" (or whatever the actual restriction is). This would help eliminate trial and error when choosing a system name, or at least keep the trial and error in the user's brain. Thanks. (Also, is this the right place to report this? Sorry if it's not.) _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <https://savannah.nongnu.org/task/?15940> _______________________________________________ Message sent via Savannah https://savannah.nongnu.org/
