Hi Erwin, You can find the Canon PIXMA MG5600 Series scanner here: http://www.sane-project.org/lists/sane-backends-cvs.html#S-PIXMA .
As you can see, for this scanner you must install SANE development (git) version. Please follow the installation description in README.linux: http://www.sane-project.org/docs.html . This scanner should run for up to 600dpi scans out of the box. I suppose that we need to fix 1200dpi scans. This isn't a big deal. Before I want to write some patches, please report your scan results first. I hope this helps.
