this is my first mail to the Sane devel mailing list, hopefully it's OK, to write it here. I have the mentioned Pixma MG5650 and unfortunately sane does not detect it during the standard scan process which is performed by the Scan-Application (e.g. skanlite). I've updated already the sane version to the latest Git version: scanimage -V ++ scanimage (sane-backends) 1.0.25git; backend version 1.0.24 Unfortunately, this has no effect on the result. skanlite is still not able to detect the scanner. In general, the scanner is detected by the system, lsusb shows this: lsusb ++ Bus 003 Device 006: ID 04a9:177f Canon, Inc. But scanimage -L does not detect anything: scanimage -L ++ No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different, ++ check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the ++ sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation ++ which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages). sane-find-scanner is able to identify the scanner and its series number: sane-find-scanner ++ found USB scanner (vendor=0x04a9 [Canon], product=0x177f [MG5600 series]) at libusb:003:006 In case you need further information, I can provide it, if you tell me what you need and where I can get it from.
