By the way, It seems that the power off time is being kept in the scanner itself. I set the power off timer in windows using "epson scan settings" (lets say for 10 minutes), then I took the scanner and connected it to a computer with only linux mint in it (with sane and epkowa). 10 minutes after the first "scanimage -L" use (but not before), the scanner shuts down. (I checked it few times and with different scanners)
