Hi everyone, I'm pleased to announce the support of the duplexing ADF on HP 8200 series scanners, which includes the 8200, 8250, 8270, and 8290. Additionally, I've (re)added support for the Avision AV220-G scanner which seems to have suffered from a regression in the code. I've just committed these, along with several other fixes, to the repository. A big thanks to Steve Lipinski for lion's share of USB dumping and tirelessly applying patch after patch to get the HP 8200 series working.
For the sake of future Avision users scanning the mail archive, I'm going to list the remaining known issues with the backend. I've only recently taken over maintenance of the backend, so this list may not be complete: 1) The Avision AV120 is suffering from a regression. I think seeing a Windows USB dump will give some clues as to why it's not working. 2) The Avision AV220-G doesn't correctly handle resolutions above 300 dpi. This hardware is capable of 600 dpi. I'm still looking at this one. 3) The HP 8200 series doesn't correctly handle resolutions above 2400 dpi. This hardware is capable of 4800 dpi. I'm just starting to look at this problem. Testers always welcome. 4) I have had one report that color scans on the Visioneer Xerox Documate 510 produce banded output. I've looked at the resulting scan image with its strange color banding, but I'm not sure what is causing it. I'm seeking a tester who can do Windows USB dumps with this scanner.
