Hello, I have an Epson 1260 on 192.168.1.3 with Ubuntu 9.10 working. Scanimage gives 'plustek:libusb:001:006'. Scanning on 192.168.1.3 works flawless.
I have followed http://wiki.ubuntu-nl.org/community/ScannerDelen (in dutch for sharing a scanner in Ubuntu). This worked for me on another machine Ubuntu 8.04 and a HP 4400c. But on the 192.168.1.3 with Ubuntu 9.10 i can not get a connection from another machine for example 192.168.1.4 with Ubuntu 9.10, neither with SaneTwain under Windows XP. /var/log/syslog on 192.168.1.3 (with hostname peter-desktop) gives: Dec 17 22:40:12 peter-desktop saned[8715]: saned (AF-indep+IPv6) from sane-backends 1.0.20 starting up Dec 17 22:40:12 peter-desktop saned[8715]: check_host: access by remote host: 192.168.1.4 Dec 17 22:40:12 peter-desktop saned[8715]: init: access granted to peter at 192.168.1.4 Dec 17 22:40:15 peter-desktop saned[8715]: saned exiting after trying to get a list from client 192.168.1.4 with 'scanimage -L'. When I try to connect directly from 192.168.1.4 to 192.168.1.3 with 'scanimage -d net:192.168.1.3 -T' I get: Dec 17 22:45:13 peter-desktop saned[8766]: saned (AF-indep+IPv6) from sane-backends 1.0.20 starting up Dec 17 22:45:13 peter-desktop saned[8766]: check_host: access by remote host: 192.168.1.4 Dec 17 22:45:13 peter-desktop saned[8766]: init: access granted to peter at 192.168.1.4 Dec 17 22:45:16 peter-desktop saned[8766]: process_request: (open) device_list[0] == 0 Dec 17 22:45:16 peter-desktop saned[8766]: saned exiting In both situations I get: scanimage: open of device net:192.168.1.3 failed: Invalid argument on client 192.168.1.4. In net.conf on the client I have '192.168.1.3'. In dll.conf on the client I have 'net'. 'telnet 192.168.1.3 6566' from client 192.168.1.4 gives a connection to 192.168.1.3. In '/etc/sane.d/saned.conf' on 192.168.1.3 there is 192.168.1.4. In '/etc/hosts.allow' on 192.168.1.3 there is '192.168.1.4'. /proc/bus/usb/001/006 has rights '-rw-rw-r--' and user:group 'root:plugdev'. Changing it to something else do not matter. Using sudo in front of any of the commands has the same results. Anyone have any clue why I cannot connect from client 192.168.1.4 to server 192.168.1.3 ? Thx, Peter
