I just want to clarify that I wasn't clear before. When I said I uncommented the following lines, I meant to say that I only uncommented "#option disable-calibration" in the avision.conf file, and with that disabled I was able to scan and save images. Now putting that aside... I have tested out the latest cvs version of sane including the backend/frontend version of avision for my HP Scanjet 5300C with xscanimage and xsane. I didn't have to uncomment any options in the avision config file and I was able to scan and do the usual stuff as before, no problems. Although in the beginning of each and every scan, I would hear a slightly small thump sound coming from my scanner. I didn't remember hearing that sound when I was using the stable version of sane but yes the scan did go through. Did the cvs version fix my recent freezes/crashes?...I was hoping it would but not really. I still think that it has some sort of problem reloading the config files. To be specific, this is what I did: http://pastebin.com/f646d5043
