I have connected the hp scanjet 4400c with USB. He is correctly detected : 17:30 giggz at thor ~ % lsusb Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 001 Device 004: ID 03f0:0705 Hewlett-Packard ScanJet 4400c Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0a81:0101 Chesen Electronics Corp. Keyboard Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 003 Device 002: ID 062a:0000 Creative Labs Optical mouse Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub and 17:33 giggz at thor ~ % scanimage -L device `hp_rts88xx:libusb:001:004' is a Hewlett-Packard ScanJet 4400C flatbed scanner But when I launch xsane under normal user and under root, I get : open of device hp_rts88xx:libusb:001:004 failed: Error during device I/O I found on the net that is a known problem. Is there a way to solve this problem ? Is the hpoj or the hplip package necessary ? Best regards, Guillaume
