Hallo everyone

I am new to this site. I have very basic computer skills with no knowledge of
computer programming.

When I upgraded the operating system on my old computer (Gateway 450SP) from
Windows 98se to XPPro I could not find a driver for my Black Widow (Devcom)
9636 PRO scanner which would work.

On the SANE web site "Sane-pie backend" is listed as having been tested on the
DEVCOM 9636PRO and works OK but the downloading and installation of this
backend appears to be a daunting task for someone without any knowledge of
computer programming. If the source package needs to be compiled I would not
have a clue about how to go about that.

I would, therefore, be very obliged if someone could provide me with a detailed
step by step guide of each operation /procedure required to download and
install the Sane-pie Backend (driver) on my computer. From where do I download
this driver and to where on my computer do I install it? The information given
on the Sane web site appears to be written for professionals and is away above
my head.

If I can succeed in installing the Sane backend will I also require to install
a Sane frontend or could I use the WidowView software (twain) supplied with the
scanner?
