just wanted to put this about as I spent countles hours fiddling with xsane optionsto get my scanner to work. It worked fine with scanimage but would only scan half an A4 page with xsane and would fail to preview at all---the light bar would loop and clatter halfway down the flatbed. Solution was in the man page, says "works best with parallel port set to EPP mode. Once set, all was fine, scans properly now. regards, putting
