That is correct and also the main reason why this scanner will not be supported by "Image Scan! for Linux". The Perfection 3170 not at all similar to the 1670. It is also not at all similar to the 1250 or 1260. Work is underway to add support for this scanner to "Image Scan! for Linux", though.
