Huh? I just scanned an image with the ma1509 backend, saved it with xsane 0.90 to a .tiff file and could open it with xpaint (2.6.2) without problems. Same with the test backend. That's with default settings (Jpeg compression). Color mode, 8 bit/color. xpaint doesn't seem to be able to display 16 bit images. > And: ImageMagick Version 5.4.4.5: no problems with 8 and 16 bit modes. > And: xv Not installed here. > And: ??? gimp works qiv works > If such a lot of tools have problems with tiff's standardly produced > by xsane, than the defaults of xsane should be changed to the solution > you are outlining below. Maybe the bug occurs only sometimes and I had luck? However I have never noticed any problems. Maybe it's a problem with libtiff? hmg@hmg1:~$ ldd /usr/local/bin/xsane libtiff.so.3 => /usr/lib/libtiff.so.3 (0x40359000) > But: 1.
