uh, I forgot to mention. I'm blind. so GUI interfaces don't mean a lot to me. I use my scanner (Primax Compact 4800 using the mustek backend) for OCR work in linux and also in windows. btw, for henning: you need to list the primax compact 4800 scsi as working with the mustek paragon 600 II cd backend. Thats what I've been using for a long time now and it works reasonably well (600x300 dpi, no glitches). only problem I see with it is that it only likes adaptec 29xx series or advansys scsi cards. anything else tends to cause problems.
