I have the following problem with an UMAX SuperVista S12 scanner under Slackware 8. I used to have this scanner running previously with installations of LFS and SuSE 7.2 on this same box. sane-find-scanner sees the scanner perfectly on /dev/sg0 and /dev/sga but other programs such as xsane and scanimage don't.
