[BTW: the bugs reported by at those two locations == 'Linux USB in 2.4 is too flaky to rely upon.' I have to run all my devices off a hub; connecting directly to the machine gets 'I/O error', but connecting through a hub always works. It's not's SANE's fault; this happens with 3/4 of my USB devices, the fourth (a flash card reader) mysteriously always works] Monty
