I tried the installation of sane for my Ricoh SP-213 SUw that is a multifunction printer with scanner included. I'm running an Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS and my printer is connected through usb. sane-find-scanner tells me : found possible USB scanner (vendor=0x05ca [RICOH ], product=0x044f [RICOH SP 213SUw]) at libusb:002:012 found possible USB scanner (vendor=0x138a, product=0x0017) at libusb:002:003 scanimage is telling : No scanners were identified.
I've had mixed results from scanimage, but more luck with simple-scan which is what I prefer now. It might be worth trying other tools and if you're not averse to pain you can try looking for some debug info. It might mean using command line switches or tweaking configurations.
Can you tell me if my model is supported by sane ?
Using Google I searched for "sane supported scanners" The first hit was http://www.sane-project.org/sane-supported-devices.html Your scanner doesn't seem to be mentioned. It's possible that drivers for 'similar' scanners will work, although perhaps only partially. If you can connect via the scanner's wireless LAN interface, you may find it works that way - but that's just a guess. -- 73, Ged.
