I agree Anthony.

Dirk has created a wonderfully flexible template system, and it’s been a call
by many (including myself) in the more than the 12 years I’ve been using SA.
One of my simple templates use to be available on the SA site. But others
provided far better than I could produce with added scripting etc.

In the early days, there were a few that hosted their own shared templates,
then Dirk kindly provided space on the Woodstone site to host them. However
there were/are only a few users that have ever answered the call. And of course
we all thank them for that. I think for the most part, us Admins lacked either
the time or the skill set to ‘create’ nice looking functional templates
that suit our specific needs.

If the templates are not forthcoming within the community, then we could either
pay a third party web designer to create them, or see if Dirk has any solutions
/connections. Maybe call out to the community to see what users want in a
template. Then there is the question of recovering development time and costs.
Would anyone be willing to pay for templates?

How about some additional report/output templates? I have the one that was
shared a while ago. But maybe different templates we can use or share? Or if
any out there has made their own report web pages can you share? This way we
can at-a-glance see things up or down for anyone to view via a webpage.

Realy splitting them is not realy possible.
In the new version however you can run the service for the checks and see
the updates via the none-checking GUI (same gui with a parameter -> can be
called via the remote icon tool).

Having a DB opposed to an entriesfile (like now) won't speed-up things.

Dirk,

How's the separation of the Check engine from the GUI on the road map? Or is
that no longer an issue. I haven't deployed 7.2 yet so I cannot speak to
potential improvements in that area. Maybe use of a DB for the host check
list has solved the slow updates while a check cycle was active?

Thanks
Barry

Now that Servers Alive v7.2 is released we would like to know what new
feature(s) you would like to have in the next version of Servers Alive...

What's your view on the future of Servers Alive?
