Think you missed this step:
"and select (checkbox) what entries should be used
as
templates for those new hosts," , you have to check the checkbox next to the
entries that you want to use as template

I tried this many different ways and each time it says "Nothing to do, no
items selected" and never imports a thing and nothing shows up in the middle
import box.

Am I maybe missing a step?

Thanks - Dave

It's best to also include the pretty name in the text-file, or else you need
to change all the imported entries by hand afterwards.
The text file will look like this:

Host1;Host1
Host2;Pretty name Host2
Host3;Pretty name Host3

Delimiter in this case is ; ofcourse

Nico

Via a text file this can be done.

Create a textfile with per line the name of the host you want to import.
Then within Servers Alive, select EDIT-IMPORT, and select the just created
file,
then select NO DELIMITER, and select (checkbox) what entries should be used
as
templates for those new hosts, and click IMPORT.

Is there an easy way to import servers into servers alive via text files or
CSV files or XLS files?

Dave
