Little update for the list. The crash is related to a change in the mailer component.
The installer that was on the site for a couple of hours had an updated mailer component and this component causes the crash (when using the PRIMARY mail settings, not when using the alternate mail settings). The crash doesn't occure on all Oes. For example on XP it doesn't crash, on Win2003 and Win2008 it does crash. The installer that is now on the site does NOT have this updated component. If you see the problem then you wil have v1.0.0.44 of the component. Currently we can only solve the issue by downgrading the component. (do a regsvr32 wsthrsmtp.dll /u - then download the older component from http://beta.woodstone.nu/soft/wsthrsmtp.zip (http://beta.woodstone.nu/soft/wsthrsmtp.zip) - register the new component by doing regsvr32 wsthrsmtp.dll) Developper will look into the issue early next week and hopefully find what is causing this problem. The CURRENT installer that is on http://beta.woodstone.nu (http://beta.woodstone.nu) works fine on Windows 2008 and 2008R2 too. (at least in our testing). dirk From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Friday, April 08, 2011 10:18 AM To: Servers Alive Discussion List Cc: Dirk Bulinckx Subject: Re: [SA-list] New beta for Windows 2008(R2) & ipv6 updates New sa_onstatusminutes tag is great. But... having installled the new version last night, SA keeps crashing this morning. The last message in the log before each restart is the following: Friday, April 08, 2011 8:51:49 AM URL check (Friday, April 08, 2011 8:52:34 AM ERR: creating temp directory for HTTP(S) checks (C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Woodstone\Servers Alive\temp) gives: Path/File access error Now, it so happened that we patched our servers (including the monitoring server) last night, and it's possible that the problem was caused by that rather than the new version. Bad change control to do both at the same time, I know... Is anyone else experiencing problems with the new version? UPDATE: I was about to say that it now seems to be stable, but it's just crashed again... Dirk - I will send you log file and config file off list. We didn't test it on Windows 7 yet. So if you want to test it...go ahead and let us know your testing results. The TCP/UDP/DNS checks can now be done over ipv6 too.
