If you don't give the SQL statement, then we will just try to connect to the 
mySQL server using the basic info (host/port/db/username/password) 

If a SQL statement is given then we will execute that statement and if that 
gives an error then we will report that error back, else given an up (if the 
connection can be made ofcourse too).
