I see….it's not possible to use them within the SMTP messages. You can use them in the logging or the HTML output

I didn’t realize that 5.1 was no longer supported. I do know that version 6.1 is the latest version and I have tried it in the demo version of that release and the same results are occurring. >From the SA manual (version 1675) Custom Fields (Setup Dialog Box) You can create up to seven fields to hold information and then use these fields in your Visual Basic scripts or as variables in messages. The output for the custom fields appears as sa_custom_value_1, sa_custom_value_2, and so forth, in the file or database logs. SA manual (version 2200) makes the same statement. I interrupt the above “variables in messages” as telling me that I can use the custom fields in messages. Granted I don’t see SMTP alerts in that statement, however SMTP is a message none the less. Maybe I have mis-interrupted the manual?? And were did you see in the doc that you can include those within the SMTP alerts? I don't see that within the doc. Dirk Bulinckx. From: Servers Alive Discussion List [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Craig Muck Sent: Monday, April 14, 2008 6:05 AM To: Servers Alive Discussion List Subject: [SA-list] Custom Fields In SMTP Alert I am currently using SA version 5.0.1675 (enterprise) and am trying to include the contents of a few of my custom fields in an SMTP alert. I have tried numerous variations of the sa_custom_value_1 tag and it appears that it is not being parsed when the message is being generated. According to the manual, the custom fields can be included in messages. Can anyone tell me what I am missing? Here is an example of the custom field I want to include: Custom 1: Field Caption = Location Name Field Name In Database = LocationName Here is a sample of the SMTP message that I am generating. Message: %p is reported as being %s at %y , %z Check Performed: %C %r <sa_custom_value_1> (custom value should be here).
