I have no idea how the page works, as its a canned application.  Any idea how a 
non-web enabled person would figure something like this out?

If that page is using an HTTP(S) POST or HTTP(S) GET when you push the login 
button (and not some scripting) then the HTTP(S) check of SA should be able to 
handle it.  That is IF you know exactly how the page works and what vars it's 
passing at the button-click.
