We will probably be jumping version to SQL2008 in 'x' months so any
development in the MSSQL area is most welcome.

1) .NET is standard for our servers due to other needs, so this poses no

problem.
2) My DBA assures me that a SQL login can be created if necessary for 
Servers Alive to connect to the db. Since this will be a read only 
access, there is little or no security risk exposed.
