I increased the timeout value to the max to see if I would see a
different error, and I did:

Wednesday, December 21, 2005 1:43:17 PM smtp
Wednesday, December 21, 2005 1:43:17 PM External COM check started
(W00000008,498,-1)

Wednesday, December 21, 2005 1:46:09 PM External COM check

My POP3 connection setting are:

> Pop.gmail.com
> Port 995
> SSL enabled
> [EMAIL PROTECTED]
> Password
> Delete SMTP2POP messages
> SMTP and POP access

Thanks,

Nathan

No, I enabled POP for the first time when I setup this check on GMAIL.

Could it be that there is a client app (outlook?) also checking the
mailbox?

I have moved it to 45 seconds and I am still getting the same error. It
has to be something with my configuration, but it seems straight forward
enough, maybe I am missing something obvious?

I perform the same check with no errors. Perhaps changing your
timeout to 30 seconds would help.
