The long-awaited v2 of the EventlogCOM check was just released.

So what makes it better then v1?
V1 was based on the WMI technology.  Although WMI has a lot of benefits it
also has several "problems" like being SLOW SLOW and did I mention slow...,
didn't work very well across different Oses, seems to be "slow" in updating
it's internal list of eventlog entries (at least that's how it looked to
use) resulting in old events coming back as if they were new.
V2 no longer users WMI but use normal API calls, this makes it faster and it
makes it more "compatible" with older Microsoft Oses.  And for v2 there is a
help file :-) linked to the check...


The eventlog COM check can be downloaded from
http://www.woodstone.nu/salive/addons.asp (and while you're on that page
have a look at the other COM checks we have available...)
