Otherwise there are solutions when the vitual machine is run by KVM/libvirt:

1) if you add
<kvm>
      <hidden state='on'/>
</kvm>
in the definition of the vm, it will appear like the underlying machine,
2)
Define the type of cpu:
<cpu mode='custom' match='exact'>
    <model fallback='allow'>SandyBridge</model>
</cpu>
