Yes, sort of. There is a major patch to revamp the entire frontend for the Sage notebook, including introducing syntax highlighting. See the newui branch of sagenb on github: https://github.com/sagemath/sagenb/tree/newui
Unfortunately, development effort on the sage notebook has mainly stalled (but there is quite a bit of effort being put into both cloud.sagemath.com and the cell server). On the one hand, it would be cool if someone pushed the newui branch far enough along that it could be released. On the other hand, the prevailing idea now is that a personal version of cloud.sagemath.com will replace the sage notebook, though the timeframe is uncertain.
