I have never once ever heard of anybody seeing this problem, in "7
years of sagenb", so it's probably not some obvious thing.

On my OS X 10.9 mac, if I'm not using https://cloud.sagemath.com, I
use the notebook (and SMC for dev) via an Ubuntu Virtual Machine
running under VirtualBox, which works extremely well for development
and everything else.   Of course, since we must definitely support
10.9, etc...
