You don't have to do that.
There's $SAGE_ROOT/logs/install.log (cumulative, usually mostly
unreadable when 'make' is run with multiple jobs), and
$SAGE_ROOT/logs/pkgs/<package_name>.log for each of the Sage packages
(formerly in $SAGE_ROOT/spkg/logs/).
