If I understand correctly, the precision is hard-coded in this method, in contrast to several other methods of elliptic curves for which the user can chose the precision. Doug has pointed you to a trac ticket for solving this problem. If you look at it, you will find that it is a duplicate, i.e., you really want to look at ticket #10973 (http://trac.sagemath.org/sage_trac/ ticket/10973). Currently it needs work, but I guess applying the patch (the developer's guide explains how) would solve the problem.
