Thanks a lot for the explanations. I like the example of windows or connections; haven't thought of it from that perspective. It did take me a long time to figure out what was happening here, so maybe the above examples would be good in the documentation when the user is introduced to lists. Not sure whether this should be in sage or in the python documentation, but I have not found it anywhere.
