Sorry for the necropost, but this was apparently caused by this upstream bug: http://trac.wxwidgets.org/ticket/10883 It would be fixed in Sage if we upgraded our wxPython package to a newer version. Doing that is Sage ticket #11451 ( http://trac.sagemath.org/sage_trac/ticket/11451 ). This was brought to light in the IRC channel a couple days ago.
