I am not sure if the methods "dimension" and "vector_space_dimension"
would automatically compute the Gröbner basis. The corresponding
commands in Singular won't.

But if they do, the above definition of IR should be simplified to
"IR=I.radical()". Needless to say that the computation of the radical
can take a very long time, depending on the example.
