Thanks for the post - I was having the same problem and used your post to figure things out :) Anyways, it turns out that wxPython and pyqt are both available as Sage packages. They are available under the experimental package listing: http://www.sagemath.org/packages/experimental/
So there is no guarantee that either package will work but I was able to install wxPython.
