I am running Sage 4.5 in Ubuntu and Sage 4.3 in VirtualBox. When I checked the relative speed of the program in Ubuntu, I ran it right after booting up, with the only other active process being System Monitor.
$ cat /proc/loadavg yields: 0.68 0.75 0.81 1/275 2369. I am very new to Linux, so I actually have no idea what that command does.
