(1) You're right -- he posted to the wrong list. I've since suggested he post to the local Seattle Sage list, and he has done so, and got some interest. (2) I think your remark about being insulted is misplaced. The person posting (Kevin) is a very enthusiastic and definitely well meaning undergraduate who genuinely loves mathematics. He just doesn't have much money.
