1. There is no sage-4.2.1 yet for virtualbox.

2. You absolutely *can't* sage -upgrade from 4.2 to 4.2.1 in virtualbox.

3. I've mostly made a sage-4.2.1 for virtualbox (based on Ubuntu).
Unfortunately, this is a surprisingly complicated process where a
small error can mean having to start over so this isn't done yet.  I
had hoped to finish today, but ran out of time.  HOpefully I'll be
able to finish this by Saturday and upload a new version then.

You can always just install any linux into virtualbox and install Sage
into that, by the way.    It's really easy to install ubuntu 9.10
