I use ubuntu Jaunty in an eee-pc 1000, and had a hard time making the notebook look right. I was aware that doing
sudo apt-get install jsmath would solve the problem, but it didn't, since the equations were not properly display. I also had the package jsmath-fonts installed, but it did not make the equations look right. doing sudo apt-get install ttf-jsmath did solve the problem. This is somewhere in the net, but I think it should go in the FAQ.
