I have added a patch that fixes this, available at: http://trac.sagemath.org/sage_trac/raw-attachment/ticket/6542/trac_6542_tachyon_tostr.patch
Since tachyon is currently broken on all systems in sage-4.1, I fixed the immediate problem rather than taking the time to improve the testing of tachyon.py.
