Wow. Those instructions were for creating an entirely new
sage-vmware-3.4.zip image.
If you just have your *own* sage-vmware-3.2.3, which you have been
using a while,
the *only* thing you have to do to upgrade is

1. Login as the "manage" user.
2. Type "sudo su"
3. Type "sage -upgrade".

That's it.  I did exactly the above to make sage-vmware-3.4 and it worked fine.
