I am working on upgrading Sage to use matplotlib 0.98.5 (currently we have 0.98.3). I'm impressed with the new filling capabilities in 0.98.5. That said, I believe there are several posts on the mailing list about filling between curves, but I don't think there is anything that is easy and builtin to do it.
