It's funny you should ask that now; I just stayed up all last night 
working on isosurface capabilities.  I'm in contact with the folks from 
jmol about it---they have some very nice isosurface capabilities 
built-in that we could take advantage of.  Of course, we already have 2d 
vector field plots, and I have a function that I use for 3d vector field 
plots, which I'd be happy to share.  We already a very nice facility for 
doing interactive displays, which we call interacts.

Also you can install Mayavi2 (http://code.enthought.com/projects/mayavi/ 
) as an optional part of Sage.  As you know, Mayavi provides very nice 
and sophisticated visualization capabilities.

Sage also already incorporates a 3d raytracer that generates very nice 
plots as well.
